Obituary for Frances D. "Donna" Foley-Troy (Foley)

Frances D. "Donna" Foley-Troy (Foley)
Frances “Donna” Foley-Troy (Matton)

of Litchfield, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who Donna had touched throughout her life.

Donna began life’s journey on May 20, 1942 when she was welcomed into this world by parents, the late James and Leota Foley.

Throughout her childhood and early adulthood, Donna resided in Newton and she was a 1960 graduate of Our Lady High School. Donna went on to pursue a career with Raytheon. Many years later, she used her outgoing personality and gift of gab to begin a new adventure in retail. She continued to reside in Massachusetts until she moved to New Hampshire several years ago.

Donna was married to Margaret “Peggy” Foley-Troy in 2014 following a long term relationship. This year the couple celebrated thirty-five years together.

Even after relocating to New Hampshire, Donna had such a passion for assisting her customers that she continued to commute a long distance to work for the Stop & Shop in Natick, Massachusetts. After retirement in 2015, she continued these long lasting friendships.

In her leisure time, Donna enjoyed puzzles, coloring, word searches, playing cards and anything else that would challenge her mind. Donna enjoyed spending time on any beach, but her favorite was the turquoise waters of Aruba where she looked forward to vacationing each May.

Donna was an avid Red Sox fan and was even dedicated enough to stay awake for the west coast games. She also had taken a liking to a safari animal and during her lifetime she had acquired quite an impressive giraffe collection.

Donna will be especially remembered as a strong and determined woman. She taught those who surrounded her that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to if you give it your best.

Donna is survived by her beloved wife, Margaret “Peggy” Foley-Troy; her adored daughter, Rita Lee Allain and husband, Michael Allain; her grandchildren, Jamie Iskra and husband, Steven Iskra; Felicia Bates and husband, Brian Bates; and Mikayla Allain. She is also survived by two treasured great-grandchildren, Reilly and Avery Bates. She was the dear sister of Rosemary Antonellis and husband, Thomas Antonellis; Susan Foley; and James Foley, III. In addition she is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Donna thoroughly enjoyed making memories with the family and friends she cherished dearly.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in memory of Donna’s life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, Friday, January 26th at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Parking attendants will be on duty.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054. The family would like to thank the staff at the Community Hospice House and the Norris Cancer Center for the generous care they provided for Donna during this illness.
