Obituary for Martin J. Lucente

Martin J.  Lucente
Of West Newton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 5th, 2018 at Newton - Wellesley Hospital at the age of 78.

Born on June 1, 1939 in Newton, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Rizza) Lucente, Marty was a lifelong resident of Newton.

A graduate of Newton High School with the Class of 1957, Marty furthered his education at Northeastern University in Boston. He was employed as a Civil Engineer with the City of Newton for 29 years. After his retirement, Marty became an Executive Assistant to State Auditor Joseph DeNucci from 1988 to 2010.

He was a longtime member of the Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and the City of Newton Democratic City Committee.

Marty's greatest enjoyment in life came from being surrounded by his family, friends and neighbors. He loved gardening and following all of the Boston sports teams.

Beloved husband of Carol (Harrington) Lucente. Devoted & loving father of Donna Lucente of Newton, Gina Lucente-Cole and her husband Bob of Sudbury, Victoria "Vicki" Bonadio and her husband John of Newton. Cherished grandfather of Christian, Gabriella, Bridget and Alexander. Dear brother of Dominic Lucente and his wife Katie of NH, Dr. Rosalie Suescun of Westwood, Robert Lucente and his late wife Lois of S. Natick, Teresa Medaglia and her husband Emelio of NH and the late Anthony F. Lucente, Jr. and his wife Diane (Campbell) Lucente. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and numerous close friends.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Martin's Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Bernard's Church, West Newton at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
