Obituary for Anthony Vitone

Of Newton, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning June 6th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in his home after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 84.

Born on July 18, 1933 in Castrovalva, Abruzzi, Italy; son of the late Domenico and Pettorina (Latanzi) Vitone, Anthony immigrated to the United States at the age of 21 and has been a resident of Newton since 1954.

He was employed with the Laborer's International Local Union #560 in Waltham for many years.

Anthony enjoyed working in his garden but loved spending time with family & friends, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Marianna (Butera) Vitone, devoted & loving father of Domenic Vitone and his wife Maria of Newton and David Vitone and his wife Jennifer of Waltham, his cherished grandchildren Stephanie, Anthony, Lauren, Leanne and David "DJ" Jr., and his dear siblings Amelia Butera and her husband Leo of West Newton, Mary Maitino and her husband Gaetano of Arlington, Rose Panichella and her husband Joseph of Newtonville, and Enrico Vitone and his wife Joy of Framingham. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews and his extended family.

Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of Anthony's life from the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Saturday morning June 9th @ 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton @ 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel on Friday June 8th from 4 - 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Anthony's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter,101A 1st Ave, Waltham, MA 02451
