Obituary for Robert Nelson "Bob" Morley

Of Waltham, passed away Monday October 1st, 2018 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at the age of 80.

Born on January 8, 1938 in Boston; son of the late Howell Morley and Thelma (Nelson) Morley, Bob was born, raised and educated in the Brighton section of Boston. He moved to Waltham in 1969.

Bob was a unit leader at Camp Ousamequin owned by the Boston YMCA. He was also the Director of Children's Services at Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries Camp in South Athol and Assistant Director at Kiddie Kamp in Sharon. When he was a child, his mother sacrificed to send him to camp but could not have done so without the help of campership assistance. So in 2017, Bob started the Nelson Campership Fund with a significant gift to the TransFORMation Fund of the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts. The earnings from which will be used to provide camperships for under priviledged persons seeking to attend Grotonwood and Oceanwood. He started the Nelson Campership Fund to make it possible for others to benefit from the camping experience as he did.

Bob was predeceased by his dear sisters Edith Zolli and Natalie Carideo.

He is survived by his devoted & loving niece Elizabeth Lawrence and her husband Richard of New Bedford, and many caring friends and members of his parish community.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Robert's Life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 400 Lexington Street, WALTHAM on Friday morning October 19th at 11:00.
