The Chicago Concert

Bill's teenage children were fans of the rock group Chicago who were scheduled to appear at what was then the Boston Garden. My Dad was able to procure tickets to the concert in row three on the floor. The seats were practically on the stage but also next to the largest speakers we had ever seen and which generated the loudest sound anyone had ever heard. The girls were totally immersed in the sights and sounds of the concert and couldn't have been happier to be there. The concert ended after two hours of nonstop deafening rock and roll. Bill and I could hardly hear anything but a ringing in our ears as we left the venue, but the girls were totally unaffected by the loudness of the music and thrilled to have been able to see their favorite rock group. Bill was elated that this small gesture brought so much enjoyment to his children. It was something he and I never forgot and spoke about often.
