Frederick "Fred" Thomas Mara II
Passed away peacefully, Friday morning November 8th, 2019 in Clinton after a long illness at the age of 47.
Born on February 8, 1972 in Waltham; Fred resided in Waltham for most of his life prior to moving to Hudson for several years and settling in Leominster the last four years.
Anyone that knew Fred would describe him as fiercely loyal and protective; but ever so humble and thoughtful of others in all his life’s interactions.
A graduate of Waltham Schools, Fred had a passion for working with his hands, specifically woodworking, and followed his passion in his work with Steve Caissie Construction where he could do what he most enjoyed.
His niece Emma M. Cincotta and nephew Jack T. Cincotta will brag that he was the very best Uncle and Godfather anyone could ask for because he was always so thoughtful, kind and giving.
Fred had another secret love in his life; his Harley Davidson Motor Cycle. One couldn't tell if it was the freedom of the open road touring or the solitude of the ride, but he was all things Harley.
He had an enviable collection of trading cards for all teams; he wanted to make sure his nephew Jack cherished them in the same way.
He enjoyed poking around Antique Shops with Nanette, almost never missing a Red Sox or Patriots Game; he had been known as one of their faithful supporters in good times and bad. He also always enjoyed the Kentucky Derby.
What triggered the best smile and greatest personal pleasure for Fred was creating special gifts and things for his family that he crafted out of wood with his own hands.
He was the beloved son of the late Frederick T. Mara Sr.
He is survived by his loving mother Shirley ( Hayes ) Mara of Waltham; his dear sister Jill Ann Mara & her companion James Rowe of Marlboro; his devoted companion Nanette Lafleur of Leominster and her children; his cherished niece & nephew Emma M. Cincotta & Jack T. Cincotta. In addition he leaves many aunts, uncles, & cousins.
A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held Friday evening November 15th in the Mary Catherine Chapel of the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM at 8:00 p.m. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m.
