Obituary for Emma M. Tavolieri (Polcari)

Emma P. (Polcari) Tavolieri,

Of Lincoln, MA, passed away on July 15, 2021 at the age of 101. Emma is survived by her daughter, Elaine Jarvis, four grandchildren, Jason, Elizabeth, Zachary, and Jennifer and nine great-grandchildren.

Emma was born in 1920 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Italian immigrants Sabino and Maria Polcari and sister to seven brothers, Adolfo, Jerome, Romeo, Danny, Joseph, Sam, and Fred, all of whom she survived. Emma’s husband and daughter’s father was John Tavolieri, who passed away in September of 1988.

When not raising her daughter Elaine, Emma served as an executive secretary for many years and enjoyed discussing her interest in law and politics, treasuring a letter she had received from President John F. Kennedy.

Emma lived most of her life in Belmont and after she retired she began to study and enjoy painting in multiple mediums. She was able to share her artwork when she was 91, as Belmont Library sponsored art shows for local artists who had at least 30 pieces.

Later she came to live with her daughter in Lincoln, where she spent her later years enjoying the company of her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Peter, and Avalina of Santa Monica, CA, Violet and Enzo of Barrington, RI, Remy from Sudbury, MA and Jack, Rosie and Lou who reside in the family home in Belmont, MA.

Emma enjoyed singing, dancing, nights on the town, and the company of friends and was always especially happy to have visits from the great-grandchildren. She was also most proud to be a founding member of the “BelAirs,” a senior singing group supported by and based in Belmont.

Emma celebrated with great joy and energy, her 100th birthday last year with more than 125 friends and family from many walks of life.

Flowers may be sent via Brasco’s Funeral Home’s website in Belmont. MA or donations in her name may be sent to The Greater Boston Food Bank or The Belmont’s COA or Lincoln’s COA.

Friends and relatives are invited to a wake on Sunday July 18 from 1-3 PM at Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 325 Trapelo Road, Belmont, MA. Burial in Lincoln, MA will be private.
