Richard "Richie" Jaynes

Of Belmont, passed away peacefully Saturday June 18th, 2022 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge at the age of 64.

Born on July 21, 1957 in Waltham; son of the late Francis Jaynes and Mary (Urbaczeweski) Jaynes; Richie was a lifelong resident of Belmont.

A graduate of Belmont High School with the Class of 1975; he was a high school athlete and was a Co-Captain of the Varsity Basketball Team.

Richie had various jobs over the years including mechanic, home remodeling, roofing and hotel maintenance.

More importantly he was someone who felt family and friends were very important and enjoyed life as best he could. He was a great storyteller, loved Boston sports and in particular he was a huge fan of horse racing, enjoying the races and social aspects of the track.

Richie is survived by his devoted & loving siblings Joann Sullivan of Waltham; Carol Dargie of Waltham; Tom Jaynes of California; Linda Mazzarini of New Hampshire; Ele Jaynes of Milton; and Deb Sweeney of Belmont; and his dear sister-in-law Mary Jaynes of New Hampshire. In addition he is survived by many nieces, nephews and numerous close friends.

He was predeceased by his siblings George Jaynes, Margaret Ottens and John "Jock" Jaynes.

Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Richie's life and remember the love and friendship he shared with others during Visiting Hours in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 325 Trapelo Rd., BELMONT on Friday morning June 24th from 10am until 12pm. Interment will be held private for his family at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
