Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" Furnari Jr.

Lawrence “Larry” Furnari, Jr, 69, of Sterling Heights Michigan, formerly of Belmont passed away suddenly on Friday, March 15th, 2024 at his home. He was born to the late Lawrence Furnari, Sr. And Angelina C. Furnari (Puntonio) on January 14th, 1955, in Cambridge, MA.

Larry has always had an appreciation and passion for anything to do with automobiles and their inner workings. He could talk at length about cars without tiring, offering his knowledge and advice when asked. Even as a little boy, he could distinguish a car make, model and year by just looking at it. Shortly after graduating in 1977 from Tufts University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, he put his passions to work by moving to the Motor City (Detroit, MI) and obtaining his dream job with Chrysler Corporation where his love for cars became a daily part of his life. Chrysler sold the division he worked for to General Dynamics several years later, where Larry remained until his retirement a few years ago.

Above all, Larry loved his family and friends. We all loved him and will miss him. Even though he moved many miles away to the Detroit area, he took care to drive back (never fly) to Belmont to visit his parents, sisters and nieces several times a year.
Predeceased by his beloved parents Lawrence and Angelina Furnari (Puntonio) of Belmont.

Larry is survived by his loving sisters, Cathy Piccolo and her husband Dennis of Burlington, MA, Linda Furnari of Belmont, MA, his adoring nieces, Karen Polcaro and her husband Gino of Groton, MA, Lauren Porter and her husband Ryan of Burlington, MA and Catherine Cerullo and her husband Brian also of Burlington. In addition, he had several great nieces and nephews. Larry also had a close-knit group of friends in the Detroit area that were very dear and special to him.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather and remember the friendship and laughter Larry shared with us all during visiting hours on Wednesday, April 10th from 10am until 11am in The Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco and Sons Memorial Chapels, located 773 Moody Street Waltham, MA. A Celebration of his life will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Highland Meadow Cemetery, Belmont, MA. Parking Attendants will be on duty.
