Obituary for Sheila Neilson (McGovern)

Sheila J. ( McGovern ) Neilson 81,

Of Waltham passed away peacefully on Friday October 18th at Maristhill Nursing Home with her family by her side.

Sheila was born October 5th, 1938 in Newton, Massachusetts; the daughter of the late Thomas J. & Frances E. ( Murphy) McGovern, and sister of the late Thomas McGovern Jr.

A lifelong resident of Waltham, Sheila graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1956.

She was employed as an Administrative Stenographer at the Murphy Army Hospital and Hanscom Air Force Base prior to her marriage to the late Donald B. Neilson. In later years Sheila provided day care services to family and friends.

Sheila was an avid reader who always enjoyed conversing about films or a good book, she enjoyed visiting and using the services of the Waltham Public Library, and she truly loved her long walks with her dog “Beau”.

Sheila is survived by her three loving & devoted daughters Kathleen P. Dunn and her husband Michael of Scituate, Jane E. Kelley and her husband Edward of Waltham, Bonnie A. Neilson & Mark Casey of Waltham, four cherished grandchildren Edward, Ryan and Sean Kelley and Caroline Lane all of Waltham. Her dear siblings Eleanor Hession of Waltham, Barbara Childers of North Truro, and a large extended family.

A private Memorial Service in celebration of Sheila's life was held for her family.
