John Francis Martell
Of Waltham, passed away Tuesday morning December 24, 2019 at Newton - Wellesley Hospital at the age of 86.
Born on April 17, 1933 in Cambridge; son of the late Amable and Catherine Martell. John was raised in Cambridge and has been a resident of Waltham for the past 63 years.
John attended Cambridge schools and had been employed as a Machinist with the Polaroid Corporation in Waltham and the B.F. Goodrich Corporation in Watertown.
He proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
In his spare time he enjoyed following all Boston sports teams.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Eleanor J. (Alesse) Martell; his devoted & loving son John F. Martell Jr. of Alabama; and his dear siblings George "Buster" Martell of Methuen; Theresa Fitzgerald of Groveland; and Virginia O'Donnell of Peabody. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was predeceased by his beloved and cherished daughter Denise E. Martell; and his caring siblings the late Marie Colosimo, Katherine Cooney, Ann Martell, Joseph Martell and Thomas "Jimmy" Martell.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in celebration of John's Life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Monday December 30th at 1:30 p.m. Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday December 29th from 2 - 5 p.m.
Those who choose may make donations in John's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
