Mary E. (Mello) Burke

Of Waltham, passed away Friday morning, January 31st, 2020 at the Care Dimensions Hospice in Lincoln after a courageous battle with cancer at the age 72.

Born on December 11, 1947 in Cambridge; daughter of the late Anthony Mello and Mary E. (Fracier) Mello, Mary was raised in Cambridge but spent most of her life in Waltham.

A graduate of Cambridge Ringe & Latin HIgh School; Mary was employed as a Medical Coder with Boston Children's Hospital; Newton - Wellesley Hospital; and for the past 20 years with Massachusetts General Hospital.

There was nothing more important in this world to Mary then her family. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children but an even more amazing grandmother to her 6 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and had an obsession with crossword puzzles.

Mary is survived by her loving & devoted children Thomas Burke and his wife Mindy of Bellingham; Edward Burke of Oxford; and Danielle Schroter of Waltham; her cherished grandchildren Jenna, Richard, Cassidy, Thomas "TJ", Ryan and Madison; and her dear siblings Tony Mello and Cora Mello both of Cambridge. In addition she is survived by many nieces & nephews.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Services in celebration of Mary's Life from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Thursday morning Feb. 6th at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham. Visiting Hours will be held in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday Feb. 5th from 4 – 8 p.m.Parking attendants will be on duty.
