camping - Beartown

Frank and my dad, Pete, made a raft from our air mattresses( our beds) for fishing. Picture 2 white skinned no tan men paddling around a lake with paddles made from slabs of firewood. The next year, they found a row boat, sunk, refloated it, stuffed the leaks with rags and launched the SS Beartown. Bailing half way out in the lake to stay afloat. Sunk it and when we came back the next year, they found it, refloated and off they went again. I can hear Frank "kids, time to get water." 7 of us kids trudged off to the spring with containers for water. In my mind today, good times. Back then not so.
